I travelled to Plymouth with my sister to visit family. The Imperial is in a perfect location, near the Hoe and city centre. All the staff are efficient and friendly, Rachel who runs the B&B is professional, friendly and does her best to accommodate any stay requests. The room we stayed in was large and clean, the bathroom enormous, clean the and shower easily adjustable from mild to raging torrent (certainly enough to wake you up). Breakfast was a buffet with offerings of toast, fruits, yoghurts, cereals and full English. We did miss out on the croissants and pains au chocolat some mornings. Tea and fresh percolated coffee was available which I had quite a lot of. We are planning our next stay there for 2025. We have never returned to a hotel or B & B for a second time but this is the one for us. Thanks to the staff who dealt with checking in for being so patient when our coach arrival time got later and later (9 hours travel time!) Way beyond reception closing time.

The managers are all very nice and friendly. Rachel, the manager when we arrived was super nice. When we did not have good internet connection in the first room we were given, she moved us to a very nice room in the main building with better internet service. The room and other facilities are old as the building itself is quite old but it is well maintained. The old building gives it character! The breakfast was superb English breakfast with a variety of hot items, cereals fruits, baked goods, etc. since I was gluten intolerant and vegan, they were very accommodating with soy milk, gf toast and other things. They made me fresh porridge with warm fruit compote when I requested it and it was good! I heard they even make pancakes to order although we did not have it. We saw shelves with books and games for people to use. Overall we had a wonderful experience. The entire staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was a good size, and all very comfortable. The staff were excellent - Rachel and Di, in particular, really went above and beyond. It was a mini-heatwave when I was visiting, and the hotel was warm, and they organised a larger fan for me (I felt a little bad when I found out later it was the fan the staff often use in the kitchen…and that shows how important it is that guests are happy). I also had a lot of work to do, and my bedroom was a bit warm to work in (the weather’s fault, not the hotel’s) and the staff made me feel really comfortable using the breakfast room all evening. I would definitely stay again! The breakfast was a good solid offering, and there were nice touches like a machine dispensing cold drinking water downstairs.

This is an old hotel, as you might expect in that part of Plymouth. It is adjacent to the Hoe and an easy walk through to the Cattewater (Mayflower Steps, pubs, restaurants & cafes, etc.) and downtown Plymouth. The hotel is a bit 'tired' due to its age but the bed was comfortable, our room a good size and the en-suite serviceable, although the door didn't close properly. That didn't bother us. The breakfast was good and sociable. Not the greatest hotel but good and good value. If we return to Plymouth would definitely include this hotel in our reckoning. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Rachel and Faye in reception bring the Imperial to life. Their warm smiles and friendliness make this a homely and lovely B and B. Rachel is an excellent front office manager and ensures the establishment is run really well. The property is in an excellent location for shopping, walks on the Hoe and the many attractions of the Barbican. Beds were so comfy and towels were plush and cosy. Buffet breakfast was very good quality. Rooms were clean and really comfortable. It has a home from home feel.
